CoE Energy Group trip to the Zeebrugge LNG Terminal

On 11 February 2013, a group of students from the College of Europe (Bruges) was invited to visit the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal in the outer port of Zeebrugge, Belgium.

The Zeebrugge terminal is strategically located in the West Flanders region of Belgium and it is operated by Fluxys LNG, a branch of the Belgium-based natural gas transmission company Fluxys.

It is one of the principal LNG terminals in Western Europe. The terminal holds a throughput capacity of 9 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year and since it was commissioned in 1987, it has received more than 1,300 LNG carriers.

The trip has been organized by the Energy Group, a student group funded during the Václav Havel promotion and born with the aim of bringing together different étudiants of the College of Europe, which share the same interest for Energy and environment-related issues.
