The College of Europe team ends with two prizes in the Concours René Cassin.

We are pleased to announce that Constance KÄMPFER (CH, LAW), Anna PEREGO (IT, LAW) and Jeanne PONTE ( FR, LAW) successfully represented the College of Europe at the “Concours européen des droits de l’homme René Cassin” which took place at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg from the 9th to the 11th of April. 

After pleading against the Universities of Aix-Marseille and Valenciennes, the team reached the final of the competition. Thus, our students had the opportunity to plead against the University of Luxembourg in the Court’s Grand Chamber in front of a jury composed by 17 prominent academics and lawyers.

They won the second place of the competition and were praised by the  members of the jury for their substantive knowledge and pleading skills. Jeanne PONTE won the award for the best pleader by the International Institute of Human Rights as well as the eloquence award by the Region of Alsace.

The Concours Cassin is an international law moot court competition held in French, during which a fictitious case is the basis of mock trials between a State, Party to the European Convention of Human Rights and applicants alleging violations of rights enshrined in the Convention. This year, the fictitious case was about sports law and human rights. Mr David DOUILLET, former French Sport Minister and double Olympic champion chaired the jury.
