Energy site visit to a Polish refinery and petrochemical plant

On 9 March 2015 the Students’ Energy Group from the Natolin campus together with PKN ORLEN organized a site visit to an oil refinery and petrochemical plant in Płock, Poland. The participants learnt about the discovery of the oil distilling process by Ignacy ŁUKASIEWICZ in the mid-19th century, the development of a large-scale refining industry in the post-war period and the strategy of a contemporary oil company. During the site visit of the largest oil processing and petrochemical facilities in Central and Eastern Europe, the students could find out about the entire technological process and the variety of its end products.
