It is with deep regret and profound sadness that the College of Europe announces the passing away of Professor Alyson J. K. BAILES who was a visiting professor in the Department of EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies until 2015. A former British diplomat and Director of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Alyson J. K. BAILES became after retirement an associate professor at the University of Iceland in Reykjavik. At the College of Europe, she taught for several years the course “New Security Challenges and Security Governance”. Her students and colleagues will remember her as an inspiring teacher and excellent scholar.
