Prof. BUTTERWICK-PAWLIKOWSKI was a panelist at the workshop "Intelligentsia: Eastern European Phenomenon?" at the EUI

On 27 November 2015 at the European University Institute, Florence, Professor Richard BUTTERWICK-PAWLIKOWSKI, Chairholder of the European Civilization Chair, was a panelist at the workshop "Intelligentsia: Eastern European Phenomenon?", organized in memory of Mr Stanisław BRZOZOWSKI by the Historical Archives of the European Union – whose director is Mr Dieter SCHLENKER.

Professor BUTTERWICK-PAWLIKOWSKI also spoke on behalf of Professor Marek CICHOCKI, the Head of the Natolin European Centre and a visiting professor at the College of Europe. The workshop was chaired by Professor Alexander ETKIND of the EUI. The other discussants were Mr Adam PUCHEDA of Kultura Liberalna, Mr Sławomir SIERAKOWSKI of Krytyka Polityczna, Mr Włodzmierz GOLDKORN of L’Espresso and Mr Michał MATLAK of the EUI. The lively discussion revealed that BRZOZOWSKI rebelled against every orthodoxy – conservative and progressive alike – and as such offers much to ‘heretics’ right across the ideological spectrum.
