Professor Richard BUTTERWICK-PAWLIKOWSKI gives the keynote lecture at the IFLA World Library and Information Congress

From 19-25 August 2017, the 83rd annual World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) was held in Wrocław.

The spectacular inaugural session on 20 August 2017 was addressed by, inter alios, Professor Piotr GLIŃSKI, Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture; and Mr Rafał DUTKIEWICZ, Mayor of Wrocław. The aim was to introduce the history and cultural heritage of Poland and Wrocław to more than 3100 delegates from 121 countries.

The Chairholder of the European Civilization Chair at the College of Europe in Natolin, Professor Richard BUTTERWICK-PAWLIKOWSKI delivered the keynote lecture titled "Where were you going, Poland (before you were so rudely interrupted)?", which surveyed elements of continuity and change in Polish history and culture.
