Visit of Rector Paul DEMARET to Moscow

Rector Paul DEMARET visited Moscow from 12 to 16 March within the framework of the partnership between the College of Europe and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia (MGIMO-University).

During his stay, Rector Paul DEMARET met Mr Alexander GROUCHKO, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ambassador Guy TROUVEROY, Embassy of Belgium in Moscow, H.E. Ambassador Fernando VALENZUELA, Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Russia, as well as representatives of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation and of the Council of the Russian Federation. Furthermore, he visited MGIMO, where he was received by Professor Anatoly V. TORKUNOV, Rector of MGIMO-University, Professor Mark L. ENTIN, Director of the European Studies Institute (ESI) and Professor Tamara V. SHASHIKHINA, Deputy Director of ESI.

Rector DEMARET also met some 12 College of Europe Alumni currently based in Moscow.

Since 2006, the College of Europe Development Office has contributed to the setting up and the running of the ESI in partnership with MGIMO. Three Masters programmes in EU Law, EU Economy and EU Politics and Policies (added through a Tempus project) have been organised and are fully operational.
