The murderous attacks in Paris of the night of 13 November have deeply shocked the community of students and staff of the College of Europe. Our deepest thoughts and feelings are with the victims and their relatives. The brutality of the assassins has only been matched by their cowardice of targeting unarmed and unsuspecting citizens. With these deeds the so-called Islamic State and its minions have again shown that they have no place in human civilisation. As a sign of our solidarity with the French people – who has contributed so much to Europe’s values of freedom and tolerance targeted by the assassins – we will join in the minute of silence on 16 November and display the Tricolore flag on our main building for a week.
