Online Launch Event — EU-ASEAN Young Leaders Forum 2022

The College of Europe in Natolin, in cooperation with the ASEAN Foundation, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), the Asian Vision Institute, and the New Horizon Project, launched the second edition of the EU-ASEAN Young Leaders Forum on Tuesday, 26 April 2022.

Background information

This year's edition will focus on Scenarios for the Future of EU-ASEAN Relations and will gather young people aged 20-35 from the European and Southeast Asian business communities, academia or civil society organisations. The programme will focus on developing the participant's skills in policy research, strategic thinking and teamwork through the consultation of renowned experts.

Participants will also have the chance to make their voice heard by putting forward their proposals and taking part in shaping the future of EU-ASEAN relations. Young Leaders from EU and ASEAN will present a set of strategic policy recommendations to Leaders at the EU-ASEAN 45th Anniversary Summit in late 2022.

Opening remarks:

  • H.E. Mr Igor DRIESMAN: EU Ambassador to ASEAN;
  • H.E. Mr Dato Lim JOCK HOI: Secretary-General of ASEAN.

Keynote speech:

  • Ms Federica MOGHERINI: Rector of the College of Europe and former EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.

Panel discussion:  

  • H.E. Mr Igor DRIESMAN: EU Ambassador to ASEAN;
  • Ms Yeo LAY HWEE: Director, European Union Centre in Singapore; Senior Associate, Centre for Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, National University of Singapore;
  • Ms Giulia TERCOVICH: Young Leader from EU;
  • Mr Arrum HARAHAP: Young Leader from ASEAN.
