Baillet Latour Chair of European Union-China Relations

The contents of this page will not be updated anymore as of September 2020 since the Baillet Latour Chair of European Union-China Relations ceased to exist.

In response to the growing interest of students, scholars and the general public in Europe's relations with China, the College of Europe, with the financial support of the Baillet Latour Fund, established the Baillet Latour Chair of European Union-China Relations from 2008 to 2020. The Chair was based in the Department of EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies in Bruges.

Professor Jing MEN was the Chairholder of the Baillet Latour Chair of European Union-China Relations. Her work was supported by a part-time Research Assistant.

The Chair offered courses on EU-China relations at the College of Europe in Bruges. It also organized guest lectures, international conferences and promoted multidisciplinary research on the European Union’s relations with China. At the end of each academic year the Chair granted an award for the best Master's thesis on EU-China relations for students at the College.

In addition to international conferences and other academic exchanges, the Chair contributed to the development of university-level relations between Europe and China by providing a full scholarship that enabled one Chinese student to pursue postgraduate studies in Bruges or in Natolin.
