ASSISTANT/INTERN (EU AFFAIRS & COMMUNICATION MATTERS)

The College of Europe is looking for an Assistant/Intern working on EU affairs & Communication matters to join its Development Office in Bruges, Belgium for the indicative period September 2013 – February 2014. The Development Office is the College of Europe’s main link for developing training courses, projects and professional services for and with individuals, universities, public bodies, companies and organisations worldwide. Description of the position:

The assistant/intern will support the Project Management team and be directly involved in the cycle of one or more projects. He/she will manage tasks in the framework of professional training courses in EU affairs, be in contact with international partners of the College of Europe and implement tasks to coordinate EU-related technical assistance projects. The job will accordingly include a variety of administrative tasks as well as communication tasks. The assistant/intern will be part of the Communications team of the Development office and will assist in the implementation of the Communication activities of the department (i.e. drafting, editing and preparation of Newsletters, basic graphic design tasks, basic website design and updates, etc..). 

Required profile:

  • University degree (preferably in European studies, law, economics, political sciences or international relations) or student in his/her last year of university studies with placement agreement*;
  • Sound knowledge of the EU and its institutions;
  • Fluency in English (main working language) and good French skills;
  • Computer literacy; basic knowledge of HTML, InDesign, Photoshop and Dreamweaver is required;
  • Good analytical and organisational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines;
  • Able to work both autonomously and as a team player in a multicultural environment;
  • Result-oriented approach and a proactive and cooperative outlook;
  • Open personality with strong interpersonal, communication and networking skills and a flexible and dynamic attitude.  

 

*In the case of students for the internship an official agreement between the university/school of the intern and the College of Europe of a maximum duration of 5 or 6 months is required. The internship should ideally start in September 2013, but other periods can be considered.

* In the case of students (under graduate candidates), the Development Office will provide accommodation and full board in the College’s residences in the centre of Bruges. The internship is not remunerated.
