Having welcomed the modern art exhibition of TEDx, our beloved Verversdijk site has gained a new soul. To follow suit, building C will host the renowned Amnesty International exhibition under the title "Duty to Intervene" from 15 to 26 April 2015.

Consisting of 47 large photographs that cover human rights violations and defenders of human rights around the world, it is a powerful reminder of the ills that plague our societies.

Throughout the week, students and staff will be confronted with these photographs. On Saturday, 18 April 2015, the College of Europe will welcome Mr Phillipe HENSMANS, Director of the francophone section of Amnesty International (Belgium). The keynote speech “Achievements and challenges: 50 years of human rights and Amnesty International” will take place at 19:30 in building A of the Verversdijk extension. Mrs Hala TURJMAN, EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies student at the College of Europe, will take part in the conversation and will talk about the agenda-setting power of international organizations and NGOs, putting emphasis on gender-based violence. We invite students, staff, and residents from the city of Bruges to join us for a fruitfull and engaging discussion.

Following the discussion, having been intellectually and emotionally stimulated, you are invited to join us for a guided tour of the exhibition in order to see it once again, perhaps with new eyes.

Finally, from 21:00 on, musical entertainment will be provided by the official student band of the Falcone and Borsellino promotion, our very own delightful DG Groove.

As a final point we will offer you the opportunity to make a contribution for the Amnesty International campaign, as well as for the local charity project Familiezorg, that aims to help individuals suffering from dementia.

This is a student initiative with the support of the Local Committee of the College of Europe.
