20th edition of the ‘Intensive Seminar on the European Union’

Monday 8 July is a busy day during the ‘Intensive Seminar on the European Union’: while participants taking part in the Classic three-week programme (1-19 July) are in Brussels for a series of meetings in the European Commission, the European External Action Service and the European Parliament, those participating in the Advanced two-week (8-19 July) and Compact one-week (8-12 July) programmes are starting their training.

For the twentieth year in a row, the College of Europe Development Office organises its flagship professional training on European affairs. During a one-, two- or three-week training programme, professionals from all over the world gather in Bruges to discuss latest development at the EU level and beyond. ‘All over the world’ this year means from Canada to North Korea, via Nigeria and Switzerland – just to name a few.

In order to offer real platform for discussions, representatives of Brussels-based Embassies and Missions to the EU have this year the opportunity to attend one session of their choice. Moreover the keynote speech and two panel discussions are also open to anyone interested:

  • Keynote speech: The European Union today: Successes, Weaknesses and Challenges Ahead
Tuesday 9 July, 17.15-18.45, Auditorium, Verversdijk Extension
  • Panel discussion: The European External Action Service: A Foreign Ministry of the European Union?
Wednesday 10 July, 17.15-18.45, Auditorium, Verversdijk Extension
  • Panel discussion: The European Union and the New Stability Measures: Effective Tools to Manage the European Economic Crisis?
Thursday 11 July, 17.15-18.45, Auditorium, Verversdijk Extension
