Diplomatic Training course on the EU and its relations with Uruguay organized online in collaboration with the EUD to Uruguay and the “Instituto Artigas del Servicio Exterior”

In the framework of the Public Diplomacy Programme of the Delegation of the European Union to Uruguay, the College of Europe Development Office, in collaboration with the “Instituto Artigas del Servicio Exterior”, organized a training course for diplomats on "Understanding the EU, its institutions and its External Action".

The objective of the course was to strengthen mutual understanding and bilateral relations between the European Union and Uruguay, as well as improve understanding on the Institute’s specificities. The seminar, which took place fully online, focused on the EU as a global actor, its external policy, and its relations with Latina America. It also covered the EU’s institutional framework, the decision-making process, and the Von Der Leyen Commission’s priorities. The course included sessions on digital policy, trade diplomacy, climate change, and the Green Deal.

The opening session took place on 9 March 2021, with the participation of Ambassador Karl-Otto KÖNIG, Head of the Delegation for the European Union to Uruguay; Ambassador Diego ESCUDER, Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay; Mr Jesús BALLESTEROS, Director of the College of Europe Development Office; and Ambassador Hugo CAYRÚS, Director of the Instituto Artigas del Servicio Exterior.
