Dr Andriy TYUSHKA's new publication for the Eastern Journal of European Studies

Dr Andriy TYUSHKA, Senior Research Fellow in the European Neighbourhood Policy Chair at the College of Europe in Natolin, has just published with the Eastern Journal of European Studies an article co-authored with Ms Halyna LYTVYN on the dilemmas of cross-border governance, governmentality and governability at the EU’s eastern frontiers.

Drawing on the literature of cross-border governance, this article also integrates insights from the governmentality and governability studies in order to provide a more synergetic and encompassing analytical perspective on the past, present and future of the EU-Ukrainian cross-border cooperation, including as regards the region-building practices in the Carpathian macro-region. Empirically, this article focuses on the institutional design and performance of the Carpathian Euroregion, and does so in a broader context of the functioning of Euroregions all along the EU’s eastern frontiers as well as within the European Union.

This article is part of the journal's special issue that thematically revolves around the many dimensions and dilemmas of ‘Cross-border cooperation and peripheral areas of Europe’.
