Study Trip - Department of European Political and Administrative Studies

With the support of the Association Française des Entreprises Privées, of the Member of the European Parliament Sylvie Goulard, the City of Strasbourg and the Alsace Region, from 24 to 27 February 2014, the Departement of European Political and Administrative Studies went on its annual study trip to visit the main european institutions based in Luxembourg and Strasbourg.

EIBIn Luxembourg, some students visited the European Investment Bank while others visited the European Court of Justice with a conference given by M. K. LENAERTS, vice-president of the Court.

In Strasbourg, the students discovered the work of the Council of Europe, the City of Strasbourg and the Alsace Region . They also visited the European Parliament where they witnessed a debate in a plenary session on the liberalization of European railways. They later met two Members of the European Parliament: Sylvie GOULARD (FR, ELDR) and Jacek SARYUSZ-WOLSKI (PL, EPP); but also a former parliamentary assistant who became a lobbyist, Florian DE SAINT-MARTIN.

The study trip ended with the visit of the Military HeadQuarter Eurocorps and a visit of the city of Strasbourg and the offices of the Franco-German TV channel ARTE.

During those four days, the Department organised a diner with the students and a networking evening with former students now working in the institutions.

This trip also gave the opportunity to discover the European history of both the city of Strabourg and the Alsace Region.
