Webinar on Fake News organised in collaboration with the European Union Delegation to Uruguay

On 9 June 2020 the College of Europe organized a webinar named “Unión Europea vs. Fake News” for journalists and media professionals in Uruguay. The event was organised within the framework of the EU Public Diplomacy Project in Latin America and was opened by the EU Ambassador to Uruguay, H. E. Karl-Otto KÖNING.

Moderated by Mr Nicolas LUSSICH, the session started with a presentation by Ms Carme COLOMINA, and focused on the current situation of fake news in the EU. It was followed afterwards by a discussion and an exchange with Mr Martin AGUIRRE (Managing Editor at the Uruguayan newspaper El País), who brought the Uruguayan perspective to the topic.

Ms Carme COLOMINA has been a College Visiting Professor since 2014 and teaches a course on “Communications Management at the EU” for the International Relations and Diplomacy Studies Department.

The online session lasted for 1,5 hours and was attended by 125 participants who actively interacted with the speakers.
