E-books

Access

The Library provides its users access to e-books through several providers. All e-books found through the catalogue can be read online via a browser. Ebook Central and Ebscohost allow you to download entire e-books to read offline for a limited time in either the ePUB or PDF file format. Once the loan expires you can download the e-book again.

How to download e-books (Ebook Central/Ebscohost) ?

1. Do you have an ‘Adobe’ ID?
=> No, go to http://www.adobe.com and click on ‘sign in’. Click on ‘Get an Adobe ID?’ and follow the steps shown on the screen.
2. Do you have ‘Adobe Digital Editions’ installed on your computer?
=> No, download it and save the file. For iPad, iPhone, tablet download Bluefire in the App Store.
3. Search the library catalogue for a specific e-book.
4. If an e-book opens in Ebsco or ebrary/Ebook Central you need to sign in. If you don’t have an account, create a ‘new account’.
5. Click on ‘download (offline)’.
6. Choose the number of days you want to keep the book (max. 14 days). Click on ‘check out & download’.
7. Save the file on your computer and double click. Adobe Digital Editions opens. The first time you need to authorize the computer, select ‘Adobe ID’ as vendor and log in with your Adobe ID.
8. The e-book will stay in your ‘library’ until you remove it. You can return the book earlier (click on the book and select ‘return borrowed item’).

If it’s not the first time you download e-books, just sign in and click on ‘download’ (from step 5 onwards).
