Learn from academics and practitioners across the Atlantic
MATA brings together the academic communities of the College of Europe and The Fletcher School at Tufts University.
Students learn from scholars and practitioners with expertise spanning international relations, diplomacy, European governance, political economy, law, security and strategy, regional studies, trade, technology, climate and energy.
Through their chosen study track and the shared MATA curriculum, students encounter European and American perspectives on the political and policy challenges shaping transatlantic affairs. Faculty members combine academic research with experience in international institutions, government, diplomacy, think tanks, civil society and the private sector.

Shared MATA faculty
A common academic foundation across institutions and tracks
All MATA students participate in a year-long shared course on US–EU relations. Faculty from the College of Europe and Fletcher help students understand the historical, institutional, political and economic foundations of transatlantic affairs before moving from analysis to applied work on security and trade.

Professor Berti is Secretary General of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and previously served as Director of Policy Planning in the Office of the NATO Secretary General.

MATA role
Professor Koplovsky is a former senior US diplomat and trade negotiator and currently serves as Senior Advisor at Kreab International. His experience includes the US Mission to the EU, the Office of the US Trade Representative, the OECD and the World Bank.

Faculty across the four study tracks
MATA students also become part of the wider faculty community associated with their selected College of Europe study track. At Fletcher, they can draw on expertise across international law and organisations; diplomacy, history and politics; and economics and international business.

Support throughout the programme
The MATA team supports students as they move through coursework, mobility between institutions, internship approval and thesis completion.
