GUILD E. - EU Migration Law and Practice (25h)

Professor: E. GUILD

The course focuses on European law and policy concerning the admission of third country nationals into the European Union, the conditions of their reception, their integration or return. The students will thus receive the required tools for them to develop their own critical judgment regarding the compliance of the current state of the law with primary and international sources and what changes can and should be brought.

The main aim is to equip the students with the necessary knowledge to apply the law as it stands and with tools for criticism, so as to enable them to assess legal developments against elements of “Realpolitik”, value-based and socio-economic parameters and to contribute to the development of the law. Such tools will be as well linked with secondary law and landmarks present in international law, primary law and the question of the balance of interest and proportionality.
