ALCIDI Cinzia - Working with and within Think tanks (8h)
Professor: Cinzia ALCIDI
Academic Assistant: Luis MATOS
This workshop is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and practical tools necessary to engage effectively with think tanks and contribute to policy-oriented research and writing. Through a combination of lectures, discussions, guided exercises, and simulations, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the think tank ecosystem, including its role in shaping policy and producing knowledge. The sessions will cover the internal functioning and strategic positioning of think tanks, critical approaches to policy communication, and the ethical and political challenges inherent in this sector. By the end of the workshop, students will be able to critically assess policy outputs, navigate stakeholder relationships, and apply analytical and communication skills to real-world policy contexts. The workshop also introduces pathways for professional engagement and careers in think tanks, aligning with the programme’s broader learning outcomes related to research design, analytical reasoning, ethical awareness, and effective communication in academic and professional settings.
