PETROVIĆ N.– Migration Governance (20h)

This course aims to provide deeper insights into international, European and regional (South European) dimensions of migration management and to offer elements for understanding its multiple historical-institutional, juridical, and sociological aspects.

Based on the evidence that migrations represent one of the major global contemporary phenomena this course will introduce the students to the evolution of international and, especially, EU governance in the field (including main international and EU “hard” and “soft” legislation on migration and asylum), as well as to the main migration trends and challenges that EU, but also main neighbouring States such as countries of the Southeastern Europe are facing when it comes to migration and mobility.

The course offers in-depth historical, juridical and sociologic analyses of the main trends and features of international migrations (both forced and voluntary) as well as the main challenges and opportunities it represents for European societies.
