A European conference gathered together several European institutions and academic centres in Bruges on March 14th 2008 in order to discuss the partnerships that may be necessary for social inclusion in Europe.

The College of Europe, in partnership with the Franco-German Institute of Ludwigsburg, is organizing an international workshop on “The role of the Franco-German partnership in re-launching the EU” on April 3rd - 4th 2008 in Bruges.

"Regards Croisés", Issue #8 on Going back to the Turkish Question: 15 students of the Bruges and Natolin campus have examined the debate on the accession of Turkey to the EU, with the intention of reflecting over recent events and long-term trends in the relations between Turkey and the EU. This issue is made of their contributions and the conclusions of the debate they have had with a group of experts invited to contribute on this debate.

The EU Executive Seminar – Business Implications of Climate Change was the first seminar in the College of Europe’s initiative to launch a new EU Executive Programme, targeted to senior professionals. It took place in Brussels on 22-23 November 2007.

The College of Europe will hold a formal press conference on the occasion of the inauguration of its Bruges campus extension, Verversdijk, on Friday, 31 August 2007 at 2.30 p.m.

"Regards Croisés", Issue #7 on The Future of Europe: For the occasion of the June European Council, eight assistants from the Bruges and Natolin campuses have researched the issue of the revised Constitutional Treaty. The project is conducted in cooperation with ARTE and co-sponsored by the OIF.

"Regards Croisées", Issue #6, on languages in Europe: For the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, Vice-Rector Robert Picht and 13 students from the Natolin campus have researched the issue of languages in Europe within eight different language communities. The project is conducted in cooperation with ARTE and co-sponsored by the OIF.

"Regards Croisés", Issue #5 on Immigration: a team of 15 students from the College of Europe, Bruges campus, have looked into the issue of immigration in nine European countries. The project is conducted in cooperation with ARTE and co-sponsored by the OIF.

The web magazine “Regards croisés – Europe at the centre of intellectual debate”, produced by the ARTE TV channel, in partnership with the College of Europe is now one year old. The fourth edition addresses sensitive institutional issues: With or without a Constitution, what does the future hold?

The ministers of European affairs for Romania and Bulgaria both believe that their respective countries will be ready to become members of the European Union on 1st January 2007. This is the core conclusion of the conference ‘Bulgaria and Romania: the final countdown before EU membership’, held at the College of Europe, Natolin, on 14th January 2006.

From Thursday 24 to Friday 25 November 2005 an international workshop on International Terrorism — A European Answer to a Global Threat took place at the College’s campus in Bruges.

To celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the Legal Studies Department at the College of Europe, more than thirty former and current professors contributed to a Liber Professorum in which they analyse the evolution of European law over the years and more specific questions, each within their areas of specialisation. 

On Monday 25 April 2005 at 9.30 a.m., the College of Europe in Bruges in partnership with the Dutch Government will launch the first session of debates and discussions on the Visions of Europe conference "Building Bridges between Values, Politics and Education".

The newly established 'Toyota Chair for Industry and Sustainability' at the College of Europe (Prof. Dr. Raimund Bleischwitz) is organising an international conference entitled "Hydrogen in Europe - Towards a Consistent Policy Framework for Sustainable Energy and Mobility" which will take place on June 23 - 24, 2004 at the Bruges campus.

On Friday 7 May 2004, the College of Europe in Bruges will be celebrating European enlargement with a series of events to which students and members of the college community, as well as local Flemish and international dignitaries are invited.

In order to help address the key issue behind the collapse of the Summit on the European Constitution in December, the dispute about voting rights in the Council of the European Union, a group of ten students from the College of Europe recently set out to draft a compromise proposal on the EU voting system.

Following the dynamic and controversial speech on ”Montesquieu and the European Union”, given by Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt to the College of Europe community in the new Bruges Concert Hall yesterday, Monday the 18th of November 2002, the College of Europe, Campus Bruges, is organising a top level Forum on the cultural and educational impacts of enlargement and the role of the culture and education within Europe taking place from November 19th until 24th 2002 in Bruges, Belgium.

Mr Guy Verhofstadt, Prime Minister of Belgium, will deliver a speech on "Montesquieu et l'Union européenne" in the new Concert Hall of Bruges.

The Department of Economics of the College of Europe located in Bruges, Belgium, is organising an experts' conference on "Economic Co-ordination in EMU". The conference will cover the macroeconomic (budgetary policy, optimal policy mix), microeconomic (the Cardiff and Luxembourg processes as well as social and labour market reforms) and institutional aspects of co-ordination.

H.E. Giuliano Amato, Prime Minister of Italy, will visit the College of Europe

Following the proposal of the Academic Council of the College of Europe, the Administrative Council, chaired by Jean-Luc Dehaene, Minister of State, Senator and former Belgian Prime Minister, appointed Prof. Dr. P.W.C. Akkermans M.A., yesterday in Bruges as Rector of the College of Europe for a period of five years, commencing the 1st July 2001.

H.E. Paavo Lipponen, Prime Minister of Finland, will visit the College of Europe, Bruges on Friday 10th November at 10h45. He will be accompanied by Ambassador Antti Satuli, Finnish Permanent Representative to the European Union.

Mr Jean-Luc Dehaene, Minister of State, Senator, former Prime Minister of Belgium, was appointed this afternoon in Bruges President of the Administrative Council, the highest decision-making body of the College of Europe, following a proposal by the President of the European Commission, Romano Prodi.

Fifty-one graduate students from twenty-three countries will gather in Natolin Park, Warsaw, on September 20th, 1994, to mark the opening of the College's first full academic year in Poland. Two Natolin pilot promotions studied mainly in Bruges.
