GREVI Giovanni - EU Foreign Policy : Context and Priorities (25h)
Professor: Giovanni GREVI
Assistant: Marco NICOLICH
This course examines the main trends shaping the international system, the impact of the war in Ukraine, and their implications for Europe’s strategic environment. It reviews the evolution of EU foreign policy institutions and strategy, from the 2016 Global Strategy to today’s debates on great power rivalry, sovereignty, and strategic autonomy. Key areas of focus include the Common Security and Defence Policy, the EU’s approach to its neighbourhood and enlargement, and the European economic security agenda. The course also analyses EU relations with major powers such as the US and China, alongside wider foreign policy challenges. Students will work in groups on oral presentations and submit an individual research paper on selected thematic areas.
