Selection Process
Selection process:
After the deadline, the applications are evaluated and the preselection of all candidates is made by the selection committee in collaboration with the College of Europe on the basis of the online application form. Preselected candidates are invited for an interview with the national committee. In most cases, a representative of the College participates in these interviews. If there is no local selection committee, preselected candidates are invited for an interview with the College directly.
The decision to admit a candidate is taken by the selection committee and by the College after the interview.
Selection calendar:
- 1 October: Online application is open for the next academic year.
- 13 January: Deadline date for submitting the complete online application form including supporting documents (deadline date reference letters: 1 February).
- February to March: Pre-selection - shortlist of candidates to be invited for an interview.
- March to May: Interview period.
- May to June: Decision period. Notification by email to admitted and reserve candidates and to unsuccessful interviewees. Official admission letters are sent by email. Practical information is posted on a website for admitted students. Reserve candidates may be contacted during this period if selected candidates withdraw.
Interview results:
All candidates are informed of the outcome of their interview by e-mail. Applicants who are offered a place must confirm their acceptance in writing by the deadline indicated in the official email confirming their admittance.
The admission offer is only valid for the academic year for which the candidate has applied. Admission cannot be deferred.
If you choose to decline your place, you must inform the Admissions Office by the deadline indicated in the official admissions letter.
Reserve candidates will be contacted by the Admissions Office only if a candidate selected for admission withdraws. Reserve candidates are usually contacted during May and June, but late admissions (July and August) are not uncommon.
