Students follow the academic programme of the department in which they are enrolled, with the following modifications.
Before the start of the academic year, EPPA students follow a two-week compulsory ‘introductory course’ in the other discipline: political scientists in economics, with an emphasis on micro-economics, and economists in European politics and law.

Before the start of the academic year, EPPA students follow a two-week compulsory ‘introductory course’ in the other discipline: political scientists in economics, with an emphasis on micro-economics, and economists in European politics and law.
Joint course: Both politics and economics students follow one joint compulsory course which provides them with the analytical tools required for the design and appraisal of policies. This course, open only to EPPA students, is Public Economics (20h) taught by Prof. JOSSELIN replacing Prof. HINDRIKS. The course provides a thorough grounding in the science and art of policy formulation, setting feasible and testable objectives, choosing appropriate policy instruments, assessing policy outcomes and procedures and adjustment of policy targets.
Cross-over course: Students must also follow three compulsory courses: politics students follow 20 hours of the course DUMONT B. & PIETRAS J. - Economics of European Integration : From Theory to Practice (30/20h) and 10 hours course NICOLAIDES Ph. - State Aid Control in the EU : Objectives, Methods, Effects (20/10h) in Economics Department. Economics students follow 20 hours of the course on Politics and Policy-Making of the EU (40/20h) of Prof. COSTA in Political Science Department. In addition, politics and economics students follow their departmental compulsory courses.
Students from the Politics Department do not follow the course on 'The Political Economy of European Integration' by Prof. CHANG
The EPPA-ECO students follow the compulsory course of Prof. LARCH M. - Fiscal and Taxation Policies in the EU (20h) and the course JONKERS K. - EU Economic Policy Advice : Case Analyses (30h). In addition they must follow two joint seminars, BERDEN K. & KAEDING M. - EU Policies : Review and Analysis of their Implementation (30/25h) and BJÖRKSTEN N. & KOPP A. - Policy Analysis and Evaluation in the EU (30/25h).
The EPPA-POL students participate in the course Prof. HERMANIN C. & SETTEMBRI P. & WORTH J. - Negotiation and Decision-Making in the EU : A Simulation Game (50h) and follow a research seminar for their Master's thesis. In addition they must follow two joint seminars, BERDEN K. & KAEDING M. - EU Policies : Review and Analysis of their Implementation (30/25h) and BJÖRKSTEN N. & KOPP A. - Policy Analysis and Evaluation in the EU (30/25h).
Pool system within each department: students follow two optional courses/seminars within their department. These are chosen from a defined pool of courses/seminars associated with the programme.
Additionally, the EPPA-ECO students can follow one of the three special workshops: either DE ROCK B. - The Impact of Hand-to-Mouth Consumers on European Fiscal and Monetary Policy (8h) and/or van de WERVE T. - Business Interest Representation in the EU (15h) and/or PALANZA F. & TINAGLI A. - The EIB and its Role in the EU Development Cooperation (6h).
EPPA students follow one of the second semester seminars. For economics students this course should be in French.
